February is Dental Month at Pismo Beach Vet!

Posted on January 16, 2017 by pismobeachvet

February is National Pet Dental Month, and because we want your loved ones to start the new year with fresh breath, February will be also Dental Month at Pismo Beach Vet.

At Pismo Beach Vet, we strongly believe that preventative dental care is the best way to ensure that your pet has a healthy smile for life. It has been shown that 85% of dogs and cats have periodontal disease by the age of three. Good oral hygiene, starting with regular dental cleanings, can improve comfort as well as overall physical health.  Untreated dental disease can lead to major problems affecting the heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver.

For the month of February all dental packages will be discounted 15%. These packages include not only the dental cleaning and anesthesia, but also pre-anesthetic blood screening, IV catheterization and fluids to help make these procedures as safe as possible for your pet. Mention this email and also receive a discount on dental products including tooth brush kits.

Call us today for more information or login to your Pet Portal to make an appointment!

CarolinaMeet Carolina.

She is passionate about her job, always works hard, is frequently known to bust out with dance moves, and loves getting her picture taken with adorable creatures! She has recently taken on a role as our Inventory Manager and is the one responsible for all of those awesome goody bags that we get to give out at our Pet Costume Contest. Car is at the heart of our team her at PBVC and we are happy to announce that she is our December Featured Employee!

Carolina’s Bio

Carolina is a resident of Santa Maria. Animals have always been her passion and she considers them a special part of her life.

She has four dogs of her own (Chispita, Chula, Paris, and Diego). In her spare time she loves to go shopping and spend time with her family and pets.

Carolina will always treat your pets like one of her own family!

“What is your favorite thing about Veterinary Medicine?”

I’m one of the luckiest people in the world to be able to practice my passion everyday. After 9 years going on 10, I’m still amazed and surprised by my profession. Every year brings a new technique and knowledge to improve my ability to care for animals. I love the fact that we have the ability to end suffering and relieve pain. As painful as that sometimes is, it’s a gift that I feel privilege to share. I also love that animals give you the best feeling that melts your heart every time. And that is the best feeling ever.

“What do you love about working at Pismo Beach Vet?”

I’ve enjoyed working at Pismo Beach not just because of the patients but also working with our clients. They have became a family of my own. Our doctors are the best, they never stop teaching us new things, they always want us to achieve more and learn more. The people I work with all share the same compassion and commitment. At Pismo Beach, our patients are number one on our list. We will always manage to get you an appointment, we’ve extended our hours and are open seven days a week. This is why I love what I do. At Pismo Beach vet, I treat your pets as my own.vidmate old version

Posted on November 6, 2016 by pismobeachvet

AshleyMeet Ashley.

Ashley joined us in 2015 initially as a relief technician and she quickly became part of our staff full-time. We are excited to announce that she recently obtained her Registered Veterinary Technician license (R.V.T.).  She has a hunger for knowledge that make her such an asset to our team and we are happy to announce that she is our November Featured Employee!

Ashley’s Bio:

Ashley is a Midwest transplant originally from Michigan and came to the beautiful central coast to attend Cal Poly. She graduated in 2011 with a degree in Animal Science. Her thirst for knowledge lead her to obtaining her RVT license in September 2016. She loves animals of all kinds and has completed internships in wildlife rehabilitation in Washington and Florida as well as one at the Charles Paddock Zoo. Most recently, she worked at Woods Humane Society as part of their high volume spay and neuter program. Currently, she volunteers at the Marine Mammal Center in her spare time. The highlights of her adventures include hand feeding lemurs, rescuing sea birds entangled in fishing line, helping to raise orphaned harbor seal pups, and socializing innumerable kittens.bluestacks download for windows 10

When she’s not working you will likely find Ashley enjoying the sunshine at the beach, attempting a new recipe she found on Pinterest, looking for a good memoir at the library or spending time with her husband.

Ashley is happy to be a part of the PBVC team and looks forward to meeting you and your furry friends!

Our Eighth Annual Pet Costume Contest was Super Sweet!

Posted on November 4, 2016 by pismobeachvet

Just a quick recap: our Eighth Annual Pet Costume Contest was a great time! We had the world’s third smallest horse, a cat Jude and Little Beardressed as a shark, a Newfie Taco, old movie references and so much more.

The weather was looking gloomy but just as we were about the get started the sun peeked out of the clouds and it turned into a beautiful day.  If you missed it, we’ll hope to see you next year!
