Halloween Events at Pismo Beach Vet Clinic!!
It’s that time of year again, and we would like to invite you to a number of exciting events we are having at Pismo Beach Veterinary Clinic:
Fifth Annual Halloween Pet Costume Contest (October 26th from 12:30pm – 1:30 pm)
Does your pet like to dress up? Do you?
Well, we are pleased to invite you to the Fifth Annual Pismo Beach Veterinary Clinic Pet Costume Contest on Saturday, October 26th from 12:30 – 1:30pm
Registration will start at 12:30pm. Judging, by a panel of local experts, will take place at 1:00 pm sharp! All pets are welcome and the event is FREE.
Categories will include:
* Best Pet Duo
* Best Human and Pet Duo
* Best Canine Costume
* Best Feline Costume
* Best Exotic Pet Costume
There will be food, drinks, and some great prizes! Even if your pet does not enter, come out to see some great costumes.
Haunted Clinic (October 26th from 7:00 – 10:00pm)
We are excited to announce that after a year off, we are once again going to be putting on a haunted house at the clinic on Saturday, October 26th from 7:00 – 10:00pm.
Admission is free, but all donations will benefit our H.E.L.P. fund.
This event will be SCARY and is not for the faint of heart!

It’s that time of year again, the 2013 Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce Party on Price Street Open House is around the corner!
Join the businesses on Price Street for a fantastic event. Each year, all the Chamber businesses on Price Street throw open their doors and invite the public in!
I’m sad to say that Pismo Beach Veterinary Clinic will not be participating this year as Joel and Sarah Conn are out of town. However, it is always a fun event and we encourage all of our clients and friends to attend to support the local community.
There will be lots of great food, giveaways and prizes, and live music. It’s fun for the entire family!

Puttin’ on the Dog Fundraiser
We are excited to announce that the Five Cities Dog Park Association is hosting their annual fundraiser: Puttin’ On the Dog on Saturday, August 17th from 10am to 2pm.
Proceeds benefit the Elm Street dog park and the event is a lot of fun! There will be training demos, food, prizes, music and lots of local vendors.

4th of July Pet Safety!!
Happy 4th of July! We hope you enjoy your holiday but please think about your pets today! The 4th is a tough holiday for many pets. Below are some tips to keep your pet as safe as possible.
- Make sure your pet is in an enclosed, secure area. Dogs can get scared or even harassed by strangers in the neighborhood. Dog fights are common when unfamiliar dogs interact.
- Assure your pets’ collars are secure and have current information on their tags. Visitors can accidentally let your pet escape and scared pets will break through or jump over fences. Lost pets are common during the 4th.
- Keep food, alcohol, and decorations out of your pet’s reach. Pets can get in a lot of trouble from eating things they shouldn’t.
- If you’re enjoying the day outdoors with your pet, be cognizant of environmental hazards. Drinking salt water and eating sand can make a dog very sick. Provide plenty of freshwater, especially if you’re in a hot climate. Don’t leave your pet in a parked car. Watch for ticks and foxtails if you’re going for a hike. And don’t forget the sunscreen for your dogs, too!
- Plan ahead if you think your cat or dog will suffer anxiety from the noise. Prepare a comfortable place for her in the quietest room in the house. Play white noise (like a TV) during the fireworks. Offer treats or toys if you think that will distract her. Try a Thunder shirt or a lavender scented air freshener. Ask your vet if you think your pet would benefit from sedatives.
